changes in the trailer

due to certain changes and circumstances i have decided to change the idea of my film trailer, it no longer features actors or at least directly in view characters. it plays on the feeling of paranoia and also incorporates the sense of being chased/followed with different sounds to support the video.although i decided to keep the title and initial storyline the same its the main the video which is different, no longer following my previous storyboard.

final webpage design

This is my final webpage design it displays most of the conventions of webpages I have researched that advertise film. I carried the same text and masthead through all of my designs to keep up the theme of the film this connects each product with each other. The menu banner at the top of the page gives all options you would find on an average film website, such as videos and downloads. The links in the red boxes featured on the right and left of the page provide direct routes for the audience to other related websites such as YouTube, ticket providers and a competition about the film, these links are big and bold which grab the audience’s attention as soon as they enter the website getting them to go straight to the trailers YouTube channel. The image I used is of the unconscious character after being knocked out by the villain of the film. I used to images to make it look like it was changing form image to image which most websites do but because I was creating this in Photoshop this was impossible to make it actually happen. Using a quote from another media text about the film  tells the audience that another established company has recognised it as a good film therefore promoting the film. The links to social networks in the top right-hand corner shows that the film is available through other apps considering about 10% of the world are on Facebook and about 20% of the world access on platform of social networks this allows the website to reach a larger audience.

final poster design

This will be the final poster design for my film this is effective because the extreme close-up view engages the audience and connects them to the character. The title uses a strong dominant font which moves you towards the other details on the image. This image while being weird and shocking captures the feel of the dark dangerous themes in horror/thriller genres. The colour of the text makes it easier to read while catching your attention at the same time. Displaying the tag line and release date at the top of the screen makes it easier for the audience to find out when the film will be released and stops the audience losing their attention when looking at it because they can head straight to the top of the page. This also helps to get the tag line stuck in their minds because they will relate reading it with reading the release date. I chose to make the image in greyscale because I found it more dramatic and engaging it also adds a simple but effective quality to it.

final webpage designs

these are my final designs for the web page the first uses a similar designs to the poster in the way the images are cross faded this helps to set a house theme but also gives a great mysterious effect.

this image is quite different to the first because it frames the image differently in a more dramatic way i used different effects on the image to see how it would effect the feel of the image it seems to give it a sense of horror which promotes the genre.
this image also does this but has a more intimate revealing shot which is almost an extreme close up i think i will most likely use the first website because it seems to be more professional and relates to the posters more while these other ones are too altered.

final poster designs

when creating these posters i played around with overlaying photos to create a weird ambiguous fell to cause disturbance this represents my film well and makes it visually interesting. i found that black and white image was much more successful than colour because it portrays feelings of loss and damage and the photo is of the characters unconscious face

but before i came up with the previous idea i experimented with threshold image trying to get a bold picture but i realised that it has more impact if the face covers the full page rather than the centre however i still think it has some impact.

with this copy it two different threshold images merged together in a similar way to the the first image i found the white background makes the text stand out more and while the image is very graphic i don't think it represents the film well enough.

second draft webpage

This is the second draft of the website it like the poster draft is just waiting for images so that I can fill the background. I think it will all come together when I add the images and when I do so I will be able to see where and what I need to improve upon, whether I need to take better photos or rearrange the composition.

alternative draft of poster

This is just a different layout of how I could set the poster out however I think the other design is more visually interesting.

second poster draft

This the second draft of my poster. It is still missing some features such as the main image but this gives an initial view of how it will look. I think it is arranged well the masthead is a good size it displays most of the features needed in a successful film advert it just needs an image mainlybecause that is what hooks the audience onto the film.

filming difficulties

During the past few weeks I have been trying to get some filming accomplished but certain factors have left me unable to film. One week an actor couldn't find the time to come and film so this set me back a while and another week the weather let me down by raining on us in the middle of filming so I couldn't use the current shot. One weekend the camera wouldn’t work so I had to wait until the following mode to fix it .when filming in future I should consider what is going to happen and plan ahead so that I can be more efficient when filming.

layout of poster

this is the first draft of my poster to advertise my film. this draft is simply a formal layout to show the features of the poster and how i am going to set it out. as with the web page i have researched other recent posters to get a feel of how i should go about making my own . most recent poster are using closeup photos covering the whole page and displaying the information such as the title and release date below the image . i can see why this is effective because then the audience doesn't have to scan around the page for a while trying to find out when they can go and see the film.

layout of webpage

This is the first draft of my web page for the film trailer. To produce this plan i have looked at a number of different website to try and figure out what seems to be common conventions and what I should ad to make my page different. The layout for the page was partly from looking at other web pages designs but mainly how I thought it should be set out to achieve my required look. In the image above the page is mostly covered by an image this is quite common in web pages but it is also crowded with links so when I make the actual design I think I will play around with the orientation of these links.

examples of webpages

these are some examples of web pages i have taken stills of they are from current films in cinema and show three different ways of setting out websites so that they are engaging with the audience.
the first one directly displays the trailer with options to share the video via social networks with a shot of the main character displayed on the right of the trailer, it also has rolling quotes from various magazines to promote the film and what people thought of it.also displaying the main title quite dominantly on the page while displaying smaller links to things such as games and other websites.

this second image is a lot more open than the first web page because it displays a wide high angled shot of blue ocean with a boat at the centre giving it the feeling of freedom and tranquillity. it displays the main information also at the centre but with other links at the top and bottom of the page with a promotional quote below the title it enhances the whole image reinforcing the film.this like many other film websites has stills from the film on a moving roll so that we get a feel for  what the film is like without watching the trailer.

the webpage for the hobbit however is very different from the first but quite similar to the first the fact that both these websites only directly display images makes me think that they dont need to show the trailer as promptly as jack reacher because of how well known the stories are. although it is similar to the page for the life of pi it uses more featuyres to its advantage such as video links and games and other extra content similar to what you might find a s dvd extras.
